Harvesting Keywords with Google Suggest
By Steve Strait
If you have typed a search string into Google recently, you may have noticed the automatic suggestions that appear below the text box. This attempts to auto complete your search query for you, or offers suggestions as to what you might be searching for. If you haven't seen this feature in action, take a look at the screenshot below of me typing in "search engin" and you will see the suggestions that Google offered me. This is such a great feature on many levels. For regular searchers of Google, this could save some time and typing, or offer suggestions that you hadn't thought of yet to narrow your search. Internet marketers and SEO professionals will appreciate this because it will offer some related terms for the keyword you're putting in. Perhaps this will uncover some potential keywords that you hadn't found yet, and can optimize your pages for them. You should pay close attention to these words in your marketing or optimization campaigns, because these are the terms that people will use! Inherently, your searchers are lazy and will opt to use something that is suggested for them. I know that I would. So, these are the terms that you need to be focusing on. While I'm not advocating using only this to obtain your keyword lists, I think it would be prudent to run all of your targeted keywords through this, just to see what it comes back with. Lastly, Google will also offer you the estimated number of results that would come back for the suggested query. However, I have found this to very inaccurate. So, I wouldn't count on those numbers just yet. I have no doubts that this will improve over time and those numbers will be more meaningful. |

I agree, no doubts that this will improve over time and those numbers will be more meaningful. Thanks
